Coming in September
Aren't they adorable! These are just 3 of the blocks in our new Snowman
Block of the Month (BOM) program that will start in September. "Chilly
Charmers" by Pearl Louise Designs will be a 12 month BOM program
featuring the cutes snowmen and penguin families. The completed sample,
62x62, will be ready for showing by July 18th just in time for our
Christmas in July Open House! This BOM is a combination of piecing and
appliqué. The appliqué method used is your choice, by machine or hand
appliqué. A begin appliqué class will be included in as a part of the
BOM where we will teach both machine appliqué and raw edge hand appliqué
methods.
The "Chilly Charmers" BOM will be held the 1st Saturday morning at 10:30
and/or the Monday evening following the 1st Saturday of every month at
6:00 starting in September.

This
month's project is the September Apple wall hanging
Every month we will make a new wall
hanging from the book "A Year of Rag Quilts" by Annis Clapp.
These are cute small wall hangings that are created with a combination
of piecing, appliqué and rag techniques. The smaller size makes them
easy to finish and hang, with each month's pattern working into the
theme of each particular month, like pumpkins for October, hearts for
February etc. Pick and choose the months you want to come to as
they are offered for an instruction fee of $15.00 each. A one time
purchase of the book that we use for all 12 classes is only $12.95.
March's class we will be doing the wall hanging for May so you will
have plenty of time to complete it.

Begin Quilting 101 ***NEW DATES

Learn the basics from start to finish. Alex Anderson's book "Begin
Quilting with Alex Anderson," will help guide us through learning rotary
cutting, sewing an accurate 1/4" seam, pressing, and piecing your blocks
together. For begin quilters or perhaps you've made a quilt or two
but never attended a class, then join us for this beginners class and
pick up some helpful hints and quick methods to create beautiful quilts.
We'll get you off to a great start!

Make this gorgeous, fun quilt using only ONE fabric for the blocks and
borders. This quilt is similar to the "stack n whack" quilts in that you
get a kaleidoscope effect when you match repeats, stack and cut your
fabrics. It is so fun because every block has a different look and don't
know until you sew the block pieces together what you're going to get!
Quilt blocks full of gorgeous surprises. Size of quilt varies upon # of
blocks used and border size. My first stack- n -whack quilt was
the most fun I've ever had making a quilt because of the surprise of
each block.

Come Come when you can, stay as long as you like. Open classroom, set this time aside for you to bring
to work one of your
UFO's (unfinished objects) and get caught up a bit or
start something new new. We all need to take some time and make it "our
time to quilt", we deserve it. This is the perfect opportunity to
reward yourself with some relaxing, work on what I want to, time. Refreshments and snacks will be provided and your welcome to bring
something to share if you'd like. Lou will be on hand to help with any
questions that might come up. So get in on the f
fun, share ideas and
learn from other quilters in a fun relaxed atmosphere.
Fee $5.00 Please pre-register if possible, store closes at 6:00 so
if coming after that just call us at 326-4593 and we will let you in.
Scrap Therapy Session - Queen of Tarts
July 8th
Tuesday evening 6-9
Have a stash that just doesn't seem to get any smaller but instead,
seems to grow in the dark? You need Scrap Therapy!! Each
month a quilt will be offered to help you use up your scraps (stash).
All quilts are designed to use stash fabric along with perhaps a back
ground fabric that you would need more yardage of. This quilt is a
perfect scrap quilt. Choice of 2 different sizes is included with
the pattern, lap or twin. You can easily make it larger by adding
a couple rows or making the borders a bit wider. Come to Scrap
Therapy for fun, excitement, relaxation, dessert and knowledge. Hey, it
cost much less to quilt than to go to a therapist!!

2008 Block of the Month

Row by Row Quilt
Join us this
year for our new BOM “Rejoice”! This is a 12 month program
beginning on February 16th. We will meet on the 3rd
Saturday morning of every month at 10:30 am OR if Saturdays don't work
for you we will also meet on the Monday evening following the 3rd
Saturday at 6:00, which will be February 18th.
No rules, no
penalties just FUN, SHARING, GOOD FOOD, PRIZES AND FRIENDSHIP. Come to
the monthly meeting and receive a block demonstration and some yummy
eats. At each monthly meeting you will receive your pattern for that
months block; we will do a sharing of blocks made from the previous
month with a chance to win free fabric for having your blocks done!
If you cannot
attend the monthly meeting occasionally, no problem, just stop in
anytime after the meeting to pick up your pattern.
What does it
cost?
This is a $5 a
month program /$60 for the year
We are asking
you to pay the $60 at the beginning of the program , if possible and in
return you receive: ($5.00 can be paid monthly, receiving your gift card
at the end of the 12 months)
$40.00 Gift card at time of payment to use for your fabric purchases
for your BOM or however you’d like

Classroom Policies
At The Pickett
Fence, we will do our very best to run every class that is listed on our
schedule. However if a class has less than three participants we may
need to cancel the class. We certainly don’t like to do this, so ask a
friend to come along and you’ll have twice the fun.

Be sure to register early. If there
is no one signed up for the class 3 days in advance, the class may be
cancelled. If a class is cancelled you will be given a full refund for
the instruction fee, but hopefully we can reschedule for you
·
Encourage your friends to register
with you, it’ll add to the fun!

Class fees do not include all
materials needed for the classes. Be sure to pick up a list of class
supplies needed and any preparation that needs to be done prior to
class. Remember that you will receive a discount on supplies purchased
from The Pickett Fence for classes. The purchasing your supplies from
The Pickett Fence helps ensure the potential for us to continue to offer
classes to you.
*You are
required to bring your own sewing machine from home and have basic
knowledge as to how to run the machine, wind a bobbin etc. Remember
to bring your machine instruction book just in case there’s a problem.
We do have one sewing machine that can be reserved if you are unable to
bring one from home.

Let us know if there is a particular
class you’d like to see offered, we want to know what you are interested
in. Also the class room may be reserved for group get-togethers during
regular store hours if we are not holding a class at that time. Talk to
Lou for more details.

Our brand new remodeled classroom is
now located in our basement and we will be happy to help you with your
machine up and down the steps if need be. (We’ve had a lot practice
running up and down the steps in the past several months!) The classroom
is newly painted with lots of good bright lighting and plenty of room
for 12 -16 students to sew comfortably. We will have separate cutting
tables and ironing tables for your convenience. So join in the fun!!
